The
weekend of March 6th our worship team traveled to
Ruby Creek, BC Canada for Skawahlook’s inaugural
First Nations gathering. There were close to 90 people in
attendance. There were believers and pre believers joining in
together for food fellowship and worship. We were treated like
royalty by our hosts, Jerry’s sister Debbie & husband Dave and
Jerry’s brother Brett. Our team wants to go back just to stay!
Ministering to us came on the way home at exit 99. Thea was
thinking of Roseby Foss as we were traveling down I-5 South and
when we stopped at exit 99 to pick up the Barella’s who were
riding with the Greely’s. We experience a divine appointment
with Roseby who "God told to stop at this exit". She had wanted
to hook up with Jerry for a drum. (By the way she really didn’t
know him but had seen him at a conference a few months back.) As
we were there at the Pilot station taking our break in walks
Roseby and she spots the Barellas as she came through the door.
She tells them that God had told her to stop there. Then she
sees Jerry, they talk about a drum for her. Then she hears the
Lord tell her that she needs to pray for our team. We headed out
into the parking lot for a time of amazing Holy Spirit prayer
and release. The rest of the ride home was more than intense as
the presence of the Lord had filled our vehicle. We say yes Lord
to all of your plans and purposes for our lives.

Every weekend since our trip to Canada we have been spending
hours upon hours as a team seeking the Father and practicing to
prepare for the recording of our CD project. It really is a
group effort with everyone participating in lyrics, music,
arranging and interceding. This journey is quite a blessing. We
couldn’t ask for a better group of couples to be partnering with
at this time.
This weekend we head to the Tacoma Gathering to do our
new songs there. We are looking forward to seeing many of our
friends and of course indulging into the good food!

News letter February 2010
As we are working
toward our goal to send updates at least once a month in order
to keep every informed of where we are headed as well as report
on where we have been, here’s the latest.
This weekend March 6, we will be ministering at a Potluck
Gathering in Ruby Creek, BC .
We will be bringing a full worship team and hope to see lots of
our Canadian friends there. You can get more information on our
website at www.jerry chapman.org.
We are practicing every week preparing for the recording of
our first CD project. Our hope is to record the second
weekend in April in order to have the CDs available for the Sing
to the Mountains Festival in Oklahoma in June. http://singtothemountainsmusicfestival.blogspot.com/.
Your prayers for this project and trip are most welcome. Also
concerning this project, we are hoping bring this worship to
some of our local congregations as a way of promoting more
prayer support from our community here at home.
February Report:
Saturday the 6th, we went to the Tacoma Gathering
where Cheryl and Randy Barnetson were ministering. It was good
see many old friends and to make the acquaintance of new friends
as well. We were also totally surprised to see Norm Skans from
Ketchikan walk through the door. So good to see his smiling
face! We plan to return the Tacoma Gathering April 6,
where Jerry will do some drum worship.
Sunday the 7th
we had the pleasure of having a small group teaching time with
Suuqiina at Fathers House. He always has messages with
such depth. He brings enough revelation from the Father to keep
us pressing in for months. It is always good to have even a
short visit with a good friend.
Saturday the 27th,
Jerry and John ministered at the Vader Assemblies of God
Men’s Breakfast. They shared in worship and then Jerry brought
the men a word from the Lord. That same evening Jerry and Leslie
had the pleasure to join with ministry friends in Vancouver with
the purpose of blessing Jodi and Jacob Travizo with a
dinner and gifts for their first child, a girl who is due to be
born in just a couple of weeks. We were so happy to be able to
be a part of this blessing for such a wonderful young couple.
They are going to make great parents.

The Barn Project
continues to progress, the guys are working on the cedar wood
work that will cover the front and back walls, waiting for paint
for the floor, then the installation on benches. And yes we
still need toilet facilities. If you are interested in helping
out physically or financially just give us a call.
Drums:
The drum orders are coming in Jerry will be quite busy for the
next several months. Thank you all again, for your prayers and
financial support. It is indeed a pleasure to partner with you

Hello All,
It’s hard to
believe that we are already in February. We wanted to give you
an update of what we’ve been up to, as well as let you know
about a couple of dates coming up.
We had a wonderful Christmas with
lots of family gatherings that we always look forward to.
The weekend following Breanne, Carlo
and Ava’s return to Indonesia, we took the time away adjust to
not having our precious little family close and to begin to
focus on our schedule for 2010.
We are currently working on getting some music together to
record a CD. We have gathered a group of musicians and are
practicing every week. We have set a deadline to have the
project done before the end of June. Not only do we need to get
music together, we also need to raise the funds to make this
project a reality. This is a totally new experience for us, so
your prayers are greatly appreciated.
January 16
we had the honor and privilege to join the Chinook Tribe for
their annual winter gathering at their plank house in Ridgefield
WA. There were tribal representatives from all over Washington
and Oregon. It was a day filled with good food, stories and
song. Jerry had the opportunity to share a song and gift Ray
Gardner the Chinook tribal chairman. We are looking forward to
spending more time with the people of the Chinook nation in the
near future.

January 30
was our annual Jerry Chapman Ministries board meeting. After
the meeting our worship team joined us for a meal and then for
prayer and worship. Several prophetic words were spoken over
our ministry and the future ministry that will occur in our
barn. We believe our time together was strategic. There was a
very natural bond in the spirit with our ministry board and
worship team. We look forward with anticipation to what the
Lord has in store for us this season.

Barn:
The barn
project continues to progress, the shop on the lower level is
organized and in working order. John Curtis has installed a
chimney and mantle for the wood stove which is capable of
heating the entire building. A lumber storage area has been
built by Gene and Morgan. The roof is sealed and there have been
no leaks. The insulation is secured in place. We are so thankful
to everyone who has put so much time and effort into this
project. Up on the priority list is a toilet to be installed.
Paint the upper room, trim on all the windows, then we can begin
to prepare the upper room for worship! This spring we hope to
get the outside painted.

120 Drums:
As mentioned in previous reports, Jerry has been commissioned
to build 120 drums for Lynda Prince of First Nations of North
America Ministry. It has become increasingly difficult to move
the drums back and forth across the border. So far we have
received $400.00 to go toward the purchase of supplies. Lynda
has an amazing ministry in the restoration of people groups and
healing the land. Please consider giving to this endeavor.

Ministry Report January - April 2009
January 17th: We
took a worship team to the
Portland Missions Connexion.
It was a packed conference with representations from hundreds
of ministries. Most in attendance had not experienced “Native
American” style worship. We were happy to serve in that capacity
and were very well received. We thank Mike, Rene, Andy, Chuck
and Josh for volunteering their time to make our band complete.
February 13-16:
The weekend started out with us at an Open Heart Ministry
conference in Bothell WA. There were two days packed with
worship, protocol, prophetic acts and teachings on healing the
land. Totally amazing! The event was even shared by live feed
to Estonia. Sunday morning we headed to Auburn to
minister at Muckleshoot Pentecostal. We led worship and
had the opportunity to pray for Pastor Kenny and Charlotte as
well as several members of the congregation. We always enjoy
joining Muckleshoot for worship. After leaving the church we
headed over to our friends Jan and Corb Morgan’s home so
Jerry could add drum tracks for Jan’s new CD. He worked on a
couple Sunday night and then finished with a total of seven
tracks by Monday afternoon.
Open
Heart Meeting
February 21:
We attended a prophetic meeting in Castle Rock WA. There
were several First Nations people in attendance and they had a
profound impact on the meeting. Speaking prophetic words over
the community and region as well as speaking out blessings and
the release of ministry.
February 28:
Jerry and a worship team of guys headed to Woodburn OR to
the Youth Correction Facility where they led worship and
Jerry shared from the word. The guys also had an opportunity to
pray with and encourage several of the young men . We want to
thank John, Francis, Ken and Bob for volunteering their time to
be a part of this ministry team. We would also like to thank
Larry Lemmons for donating the use of his utility trailer so the
team could travel in one vehicle with all their gear.
March 20-22:
Foursquare Native Life Celebration and Indian Market Auburn WA.
All we can say is Wow! So inspiring and anointed. The church
that hosted this event spent a lot of time in prayer as well as
physical preparation and we knew it as soon as we walked into
the conference. The presence of the Holy Spirit was so evident.
There were people from all over the United States and Canada. We
were able to connect with many friends and acquaintances as well
as meet all sorts of new people. Jerry had the opportunity to
drum with Terry & Darleen Wildman and Guy Peters. What fun! He
also taught a drum workshop on Saturday afternoon. We were also
blessed to sell many drums and are still working on orders at this time. Jan and Corb
Morgan did a fantastic job facilitating this event. Four
Square Conference, Jerry & Guy Peters
April 3-5: We
traveled to Chilliwack BC where we met with some local
leaders in First Nations ministry l and then went on that
evening to a gathering hosted by Brander McDonald. It was a
good meeting with a small number of people in attendance but the
presence of the Lord was big. We were blessed with songs,
stories & teachings. Our prayer would be that many would seek
out this gathering in the future and find a way to attend. You
will be blessed as well as having the opportunity to be a
blessing to someone else.
April 17:
We had our annual Jerry Chapman Ministry board meeting where
officers were re-elected and we spent time sharing and hearing
from the Lord. We are so blessed to have the same people
serving since our beginning. A big thank you to
Dave and Nancy Bodine, Dave and Janice Rordon,
and Lennie Retterath
April 18:
Jerry and
members of his Wednesday night culture class joined the
Cowlitz Tribe at St Mary’s for a drum dedication. It was a
positive day and an encouragement for all who attended.
April 22:
We had the privilege to be invited by the Chairman of the
Chinook Tribe to witness a historical reenactment on the
Columbia River. The two canoes welcoming the trade ship the
Hawaiian Chieftain included protocol, trade, a meal and a
traditional blessing of the ship. It was an honor to witness
the welcome and also to be invited along with Pastor Tony
from Raymond to share our prayers, songs and blessings. The Lord
continues to bring us places for prophetic acts that bring Him
honor.

Barn Update:
The barn project continues to progress. Gene and Morgan
have spent countless hours removing walls, placing support
beams, replacing siding & installing floors. Morgan recently
installed a sub- floor in the loft area. Gary from Wiconi
has also come several times to give a hand at sorting through
all the miscellaneous stuff that has been accumulated over 40
plus years. Dave & Kim have been financially giving to
this specific project for years. We are soon to be blessed by
our community of churches. Our barn has been selected as part
of the Vision City Servant Week. This is when the
churches of Kelso/Longview mobilize together to serve the
community by coming along side of individuals and groups. They
do everything from helping at the schools and nursing homes to
construction projects in parks, neighborhoods and community
buildings. Jerry has actually led service teams the past two
years. We are so honored that we were selected to receive
installation of insulation for our barn. The pastors have
captured the vision of how important First Nations ministry is,
and are wanting to give us a leg up in order free us from the
construction phase and allow us more time for the actual
ministry.

Drums:
Jerry has been building drums like crazy! When we were at the
conference in Auburn people actually came looking for him and
his drums. They had either seen or heard about the drums and the
anointing the Lord has put on Jerry to build these instruments
of praise. Next to serving the Lord through worship there is no
other part of ministry Jerry enjoys more than building these
drums of worship. He has enough orders now to keep him busy for
quite a while.

kit headed to Eastern Canada April 6th
Family Update:
Our younger
daughter Natalie married Nate Tallbut on December 31st
and is happily settling in here in our community. Our older
daughter Breanne and her husband Carlo and our granddaughter Ava
have been in Jakarta Indonesia for nine months now. You can
check up on their progress on Carlo’s blog at

Volunteer Position:
We are calling forth more intercessors for our ministry.
Please consider being part of a group praying specifically for
this ministry. Let us know by email if you feel called to
be a part of our ministry in this capacity.

Chapman Ministry Report May 2009
May 1-3: Native
American Holy Ghost Conference Medford Oregon.
This was our first time at this event and what an event it was.
The Spirit of the living God was evident throughout the weekend.
Jerry had the opportunity to emcee the grand entries and share
bits and pieces of our ministry. We also brought a worship team
that ministered prophetically along with Rita Bear Grey for two
of the services. People were released, set free and saved. Dave
Gomez and his church are very gracious hosts and we were well
taken care of. They are a true picture of the body of Christ
showing the love of Christ as well as representing so much
diversity of generations and culture. We look forward to
partnering with New Jerusalem Church in the future. We want to
say thank you to our team John, Vangie, Francis, Thea, Bob &
Morgan who gave their time & finances to travel with us.

May 4-8: Vision City
Servant Week.
We were so moved when the churches of our community selected our
barn drum shop and worship loft to be a part of their community
service projects. We are humbled and honored to be regarded by
our fellow ministers in such a way that they would present such
a blessing to us and our ministry. Cascade Hydraulics came and
purchased and installed 9 windows. That was 3 full days of
labor, only to return with plywood for the shop walls and began
to install that as well. Heritage Construction sent a crew to
insulate the entire building, a project that took over 3 days.
And our friend Morgan was a part of both crews. We are truly
blessed. Jerry and Leslie had the opportunity to team up with
the Vine ministry and go out to the homeless camp and share some
First Nations song and dance with the folks out there.
May 9: Chilliwack
BC.
It was an absolutely beautiful day for the
wedding of Jerry’s niece Chrystal and her now husband Lee.
Jerry was honored to be asked to officiate the couple’s happy
day. The flowers in Minter Gardens were in full bloom and the
couple and the wedding party was radiant. We pray for a long
life of love and happiness for the newlyweds.
May 11-3: Ministry
Leaders Prayer Summit Cannon Beach Oregon. About
40 local pastors and lay leaders gathered for a much
needed time of fellowship rest and relaxation. It was so good
to be able to just focus on the Lord and encourage one another
without the ringing phones and the business of running from one
appointment to another. The Lord faithfully came and met us and
strengthened our bond with Him as well as with our fellow
ministry partners. We came home encouraged and strengthened.
May 16: Kelso School
District In Honor Of Our Children Pow Wow.
Another great event
thanks to the hard work of Shelley Hamrick and the Indian
Education volunteers. This year there were more dances
featuring children than ever before. The kids really had a good
time.

May 29-31:
Reconciliation Ceremony Richland WA.
Desert Rock Church, and 120 Drum Ministry came to recognize,
repent to and honor one of the host tribes of the Tri Cities.
The Wanapum now has a very small population but was once one of
the predominant people groups of the valley. They were a
peaceful people who resorted to prayer instead of war. They
would not sign treaty’s that would state ownership of what they
believed belonged to Creator. There is still small Wanapum
population on the land and we believe as their honor is
restored, health and healing will come to them, as well as the
communities that surround them. Friday night the team met in
the tribe’s Long house for protocol. Then on Saturday we met at
the park in Richland on the Columbia River, where pastors from
seven different congregations came to repent and bring gifts to
the host people. The emotional ceremony that took several hours
was followed by a beautiful feast then drumming and dancing.
Jerry had the opportunity to drum and prophesy over the people,
and the land and water calling down the blessings of the Lord.
Two of the seven drums Jerry sent to be used in the protocol
were actually sponsored by the morning watch team at the
Kelso/Longview Three Rivers House of Prayer . We thank our
friends for your support of First Nations Ministry. Sunday
morning, Jerry started the worship service once again
prophesying, this time over the congregation of Desert Rock
Church. These are a people who are earnestly chasing after the
heart of the Father. They have ordered their own drum and have
invited us to come back in person to present it and have a
service there.
After leaving the church we headed
to Troutdale Oregon for a prophetic time of worship at
Glen Otto Park on the Sandy River. Once again the Lord met us
with favor. One of the cool things about this
meeting was people in the park
heard the music and drums came by to see what was going on. They
ended up staying and were ministered to! That’s what it’s
all about, sharing Jesus.
June 6 2009:
Lower Columbia Ethnic Council International Festival Longview.
Jerry, John and Francis joined Marie Dancing Star
and friends representing First Nations in song and dance. It’s
always
good to bring creators worship to a community event and be so
well received.
Later that day Jerry, John and Leslie joined Jan Michael
Looking Wolf in a fund raising concert
for Tall Eagle ministries
in Albany Oregon. What an inspiring
testimony Jan has. It was both an honor and privilege to be able
to be a part
in this evening of raising support for outreach to the Pine
Ridge reservation.
June 25-28: National First Peoples Summit Ottawa:
What incredible experience. The whole event was on the web live
stream. Hours and hours of day and night amazing Spirit led
worship and intercession. Gifted , humble, lovers of God joining
as one to praise, petition, proclaim, and stand together calling
forth the nations to come to know and love the King of Kings and
Lord of Lords. We would return in a heartbeat.
July 11:
We joined the Chinook Tribe and Liberation Church in Raymond
WA for a community gathering and a time to pray and bless
the land. This was our third year coming to support the event
and with each year it is gradually growing in numbers. We look
forward to meeting with and supporting the Chinook people in
future gatherings and festivals. Thank you to the Browns,
Greely’s and Retteraths, for driving over to be a part of
our ministry in Raymond
July 30-Aug 1st: Wiconi Family Camp.
It was so good to be back at family camp this year and have time
to spend so many friends in a relaxed family atmosphere.
Jerry, John and Leslie led worship a couple of times
and Mike and Rene Greely came and helped out during our
prophetic drum and worship workshop. Holy Spirit met us
in a most meaningful way during both sessions. We as well as
those who participated were deeply moved during the workshop
session. We look forward to being with everyone again next year.
August 11-15: The Cry Canada
Tuesday through Friday we joined First Nation believers
from Canada and the States to prepare the land during a pre-Cry
Summit interceding, repenting and calling forth the healing of
the land. Considerable breakthrough was confirmed in our prayer
times in preparation for the Cry event. Saturday, with great
passion and earnestness, over 2,000 people prayed together for
the nation of Canada for it to turn away from its sinful ways,
repent, and to experience a spiritual revival at The CRY, a
large prayer and fasting movement, held in Vancouver’s Stanley
Park. Joined with thousands of youth from across Canada, Lou
Engle, founder of The Call movement from the States,
participated in leading
the prayer for Canada. We considered it an honor and privilege
to be called upon to participate in such a strategic prayer
movement for North America.
Aug.26-Sept.11:
We headed to Jakarta Indonesia to visit our daughter
Breanne, son-in-law Carlo and granddaughter Ava, where they are
ministering at International Connection Center Jakarta. Carlo
serves as youth and young adult pastor while Breanne is
children’s pastor and director of Stellar Kids International
pre-school. Ava is 4 years old and attending pre-school and
every prayer and worship time her parents will allow her to stay
up for. The people of this congregation who are literally from
all parts of the world are passionate for Jesus. Many are
pationatly involved with outreach ministries in the city as well
as outlining communities. Worship at ICCJ in Jerry’s words was
“over the top”, many of the musicians are professional, so when
combined with their love of worshiping God it’s very moving.
They had visiting pastors Darrell & Sherri Beebe from Mossy Rock
WA ministering while we were there. It seemed funny to meet up
with people from our region so far away from home. The Beebe’s
have a heart wrenching testimony that really proves the
faithfulness of our God to restore broken lives and hearts.
I, Jerry had the opportunity to
minister at the Street Church outreach while in the City. The
coordinator of this ministry also leads the ministry to the
leapers. She saw a need to feed and clothe people and took it
upon herself to organize a group from the ICCJ congregation as
well as outside help to start an open air church. It is not
allowed to spread the gospel openly on the street, so she found
a covered area similar to a large carport. It was hot and sweaty
with bats flying overhead and lizards climbing the walls. The
area was filled to capacity with 200 people. There were a
handful of church folk but mostly street people. One of the
elders of ICCJ, an Australian business man, led the bible study
as he does every week for 30 minutes to a very attentive group.
Then worship, I brought my drums and was asked to sit in with
the team. The quality of their instruments was poor at best but
it didn’t make any difference. The Holy Spirit used them. They
were singing songs of praise in their language. The elders were
moving in the spirit and lunging forward as they worshiped. I
said to myself, “here we come Lord!” What passion these
Indonesians have for their savior Jesus Christ! It was an
awesome sight. The Lord led me into a time of prophetic
drumming, the worship leader with his voice began to prophesy
and sing in the spirit. This was beautiful to behold and
experience. The drummer’s kit that was held together with wirers
was falling apart but the he was loving it and just kept
praising. Following worship I shared a testimony about first
nation’s culture in North America and how God is using us
wherever we go to release people from the bondage of un
forgiveness and bitterness from the past. To show how we begin
to love those who once oppressed us. To lead by example and
bring into the church the ones missing in order that the church
would be filled with every tribe tongue and nation. They were so
receptive and passionate, what an amazing night.
I, Jerry also had the opportunity to
go to the Church’s men’s retreat and joined the worship team
there. It was a full and blessed time in the Lord and I felt
that I was able to make a good connection with the men my
son-in-law is in ministry with. I am thankful for the
opportunity.
We also made a connection with another
man from the church that does recording, and had the opportunity
to put down some drum worship. We are looking forward to see how
that project turns out.
One of the highlights of the trip was
when we had the opportunity to go to our granddaughter Ava’s
preschool class as her “show and tell”. The week we were there,
they were studying North America. So Jerry brought a drum and
he and Ava sang songs for the kids, Ava shared protocol with the
kids giving Sto’Lo Nation buttons and Jerry gifted the teachers
with necklaces. They were all excited to have a “real” native
person from North America as their visitor. And Ava was thrilled
to have us there to share with her friends
It was wonderful to see our kids in
their home and ministry environment and to see firsthand that
they are doing well. It was also a blessing that Jerry could
minister while we were there. We were able to make several
connections for future opportunities should the Lord lead us
that way again.
Sept. 19: Cowlitz Tribe Pow Wow, Another great Pow
Wow put on by the Cowlitz Tribe. They were once again filled
beyond capacity and there were more dancers and ever before.
Jerry has two new prospects for emcee and looks forward to
working with them again so they will be ready and positioned to
take his place in the near future. We are so blessed by all the
friends we have in the Cowlitz and look forward to each
opportunity we have to share in their lives.
October 11,
We traveled to The Bridge Church Richland WA. This is
the church that spearheaded the reconciliation event with the
Wanapum people in June. While we were there helping with
worship pastor Steve Watson ordered a unity drum for his
congregation. At that time he invited Jerry to return with the
drum and to lead worship as well as share the word at a future
Sunday service, and so with John and Vangie we headed to
Richland. What a blessing this congregation is. They seriously
press in seeking Holy Spirit and He meets them in power. It was
an amazing time of encounter. Jerry, John and Leslie joined with
some of the church worship team moving in prophetic worship.
Then Jerry shared from the word and also a prophetic word sent
by someone here in Longview. It was confirmed that the word
was timely for this congregation. Our intercessor Vangie also
was able to deliver some powerful prayer for some of the
congregation following the service. We are so thankful for
opportunities like this one we had in Richland. We look forward
to serving these friends in the future as the Lord leads.
November7, We
took a team to Venture Church in Marysville WA. to share in
worship and also about First Nations ministry. We were so
blessed to have over 30 of our friends join us from as far as
Oregon and also from all over the Seattle area. Venture is
a new church and they are very interested in starting off in the
right way concerning the local tribal people in the Marysville
area.
November 26,
We traveled up to Ruby Creek BC for the Ruby Creek Art Gallery
Open House, where Jerry was the feature artist. It was a really
nice event with a steady crowd making many purchases.
Jerry was honored to be able to be a part of supporting our
family Skawahlook in this business venture in what we hope will
one day be a major financial contributor for our people.
We will be taking
the month of December off and then starting back up in January.
We are looking forward to the arrival of our young family from
Indonesia for the Christmas season with great anticipation! We
will update our itinerary once we are into the New Year.
Drums:
Jerry had been quite busy building drums. In the past 6 months
we have sent out two drum sets. One small set with a totally new
stand design. We believe this will be one many people will be
interested in, as it packs up small and is less expensive than
the full set. We have put out over 60 other drums in various
sizes as well. And still have some orders to fill. We are so
thankful for the opportunity to share our instruments of praise!
New Drum Project: Lynda Prince of 120 Drum Ministry has
commissioned Jerry to build 120 drum for Canada. It has become
increasingly difficult to transport the drums between the United
States and Canada. So it was decided that Canada should have a
set as well. We are currently seeking donations for the
project and have already received 400 dollars! If you would like
to contribute to this project in order to further 120 Drum
Ministry please contact us.
Barn: As drums
are being built the Barn project continues. Morgan and Gene
repaired the roof and got a fresh snow coat on just in time for
the rain. Looks like it’s working well and we have had some real
down pours for confirmation. The lean to for lumber
storage is well under way, next will be installing the new wood stove. The upper room has
almost all the insulation secured then we will be able to paint
the floor. The property outside the barn has kept our friend
Gary Easty busy one day a week most of the summer. Lot’s more
to do but these are the most pressing thus far. We are so
looking forward to having small gatherings in the upper room and
also being able to finish organizing the wood shop once there is
a place for all the lumber. A big concern is for a restroom. The
sewer system is a long way from the barn so we need to
pray this one in. Thank you to all who continue to donate
supplies and labor to this project. There is no way we could do
it without
Thank you to all who encourage us
with your prayers and financial support. We appreciate you
being such an integral part of our ministry.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
Jerry & Leslie Chapman
2008 Recap
This is just a brief update of where the Lord has been taking
us in the last couple of months during our time of rest from the
traveling ministry schedule. One thing that has defiantly been
consistent is we have not had a worship team. This has been a
big relief. With the long hours Jerry spends driving truck it
was very difficult to arrange practice time, get music together
and then plan events and road trips. God gave us grace for a
season and at this point we are still enjoying the rest from
that portion of our ministry. Jerry has been coming along side
other musicians or they have come along side him in various
meetings and church services. God has been showing up during
these times and bringing refreshing, restoration, and
encouragement. Not only to those in the congregations but to the
ministering musicians as well. God is using Jerry in his God
given sphere of authority and we now have an even greater
revelation of that sphere and how the Lord uses Jerry through
drumming as well as in prophetic song and word. We continually
find ourselves in awe on how God uses us. There is a phrase that
a missionary from a ministry called Forward Edge uses. “Go be
yourself someplace else” That is just what we have been doing
and the Lord has just been moving through us.
Leslie is still active at the Three Rivers House of Prayer
several mornings each week. The number of intercessors vary, but
God is consistently meeting us there. We continue to pray and
stand in proclamation that this will be a city of refuge, a
community of habitation for the Lord Most High. During this year
and half while Leslie has been participating at TriHop her gift
of intercession has increased creating an insatiable desire for
more of God. She has also found herself at a new level during
ministry times with Jerry.
So the update is:
May 21& 22
we went to Lumi in northern Washing ton and meet up with
Jonathan and Bill from Broken Walls and just lint a hand where
we were needed and Jerry also worshiped on the drum with the
guys. It was good to see Jonathan again and a blessing to meet
the new drummer Bill. Jerry actually met some extended family up
there as well. Tom and June Cox did a great job facilitating the
event.
June 2-7
was the Kelso/Longview church community servant week. Where
members from different congregations join together and do
service projects throughout the area. Jerry’s project was to
have and artistic sign and entry way designed for the Longview
office of the Cowlitz Tribe. The ground has been prepped and
landscaped. Tom Kell has carved a beautiful sign that is just
waiting for installation.
June 7th
we headed up to Woodinville to join with Open Heart Ministries
for two nights of worship and intercession. (We sent a previous
email that stated the pastor Mary Oliver was impressed by the
Lord that Jerry would soon be moving into full time ministry and
wanted to be able to pray for us in person to that effect and
that they did! ) They believe the Lord has called them to open a
ministry center in Woodinville, but the community has been
closed minded toward churches. So we also spent time praying
over the land, asking the Lord for the key connections with the
first nations, local government, and realtors. The Holy Spirit
just blew right through that meeting. We had several native
ministry friends from the Seattle area come and join in ministry
with us. What an impact they had on the people that night. One
of the dancers gifted a little girl with a shawl. We found our
later that during the meeting she called her dad during the time
of drum worship (a traditional pow wow man, pre-believer) He
asked her if she was at a pow wow, she said no it was better.
She was so moved by the Holy Spirit she decided she wanted to
start going to church and hearing the drumming over the phone
her dad has decided to go with her! Just after the meeting the
pastor met a city council member who said he wanted to be the
one to help them get into their ministry center. And there are
more testimonies… A big thank you to Jan & Corb , Pat & Gary,
Lynn and Dave, for joining us in ministry that night and to
Betty and Logan who show up so many times just to encourage and
love us.
June 22nd
we attended the funeral service for the Cowlitz Tribal Chairman
John Barnett. It was held at St. Mary’s in Toledo, there were
well over 200 in attendance. Jeff Hoover and Russ Tevis came as
representatives of the Kelso/ Longview pastor’s prayer group.
Tom & Lennie Retterath and Gene McCleary also came out
representing the church just to lend a hand of support. Jerry
had the opportunity to share an honor song and present a gift to
the tribe in honor of John. Please keep the tribe in prayer
during this time of mourning and transition.
July 11-13
we had the honor of ministering at the grand opening of the new
Muckleshoot Pentecostal Church in Auburn WA. Jerry lead worship
and also taught workshops on drumming and intercession. The new
church is beautiful the Muckleshoot people are most encouraged
and now have a excellent facility to host every kind of First
Nations ministry events.
July 21-27
took us to Portland TN for a gathering with Indigenous
Messengers International at their healing and worship center,
Alie's Place. There was a full week of morning workshops and
evening worship, finishing off with two days of ordinations. The
purpose in our attending was to present Suquiina and Quamaniq
with a full native drum set for their use at the center. We
believe that this gift will be well used in many aspects of
their healing and intercessory ministry Thank you to Bruce &
Gene for helping Jerry in building the kit. And also to those
who support this ministry financially so that we are able be a
blessing and partner in ministry with our first nations brothers
and sisters in Christ.
August 3 Our kids depart for Ministry, Jakarta Indonesia.
Our oldest daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter have moved to
Jakarta to join a world changing ministry. Our hearts are broken
for missing them but know that they are being obedient to the
calling the Lord has placed before them. Please remember to pray
for Carlo, Breanne and our little Ava. Here is their blogspot.
http://carloministryjournal.blogspot.com/
August 9-10
was an intercessors and worship gathering with Pacific
Ministries at the Sandy River in Troutdale Oregon. Just a small
group from various areas of Washington and Oregon, very diverse
in ministry background, age and experience. The common
denominator is a group of people who have insatiable hunger for
more of glory presence of God in their personal live as well as
in their communities. It was two days of amazing Spirit lead
worship, intercession and encouragement. God so blessed this
small group for simply just taking these days to focus on Him.
He is faithful to answer whenever we call.
August 16
The Chinook Tribe along with Liberation Church co-hosted a
community gathering in Raymond WA. Jerry did some drumming &
worship and arranged for some worship teams from Seattle and
Longview to participate as well. A special treat was that our
friends Jo and Victoria Vogels were staying with us so Jo also
blessed the people with his gift of music. A very big first for
Jerry was going out in the Chinook canoe; he was thrilled to say
the least. There was some real relational break through during
the event and we look forward to serving the Chinook people in
the future.
September 13
we had the honor of being invited to the Cowlitz Tribe's first
Salmon Ceremony on the Cowlitz River. There is no way to express
our feeling for these people who have made us feel such a part
of their family. We were honored to just be invited but as true
to their nature they honored us in our attendance. They invited
Jerry to share in a time of blessing and song. Beyond that, the
drum team accompanied Jerry in song and then invited him to join
in with them. They had a beautiful feast at the St. Mary's
Tribal Center following the ceremony. Jerry counted at least 200
in attendance thanking creator for His provision.
September 20 Cowlitz Tribe Annual PowWow,
the date was changed from October to September this year and we
wondered what that would do to the attendance but this year’s
event was the biggest ever! Jerry is just now adjusting to the
position of emcee but is already looking for that younger
replacement. Hopefully a young Cowlitz person. Let's pray for
the Lord's leading in that as well as for the Indian Education
Pow Wow. We must always be ready in and out of season for what
the Lord will call us to next. Jerry is looking forward to
working with the Cowlitz people in some other areas in the near
future.
An answer to prayer has come!
Jerry's work schedule has decreased considerably in the last few
months. This is something we have prayed for so that he could
put more focus on the ministry and simply keep up at home. The
interesting part of the picture is that when the work load
lightened our regular ministry support went down notably. So
please continue to pray the Lord's will. We can keep up with
personal expenses with less work hours but it leaves little for
us to contribute toward the ministry and the continued
construction of the drum shop. Check out our itinerary for our
schedule. Things will quite a different turn for November and
December as we make plans for our younger daughter Natalie’s
wedding to Nathan Tallbut December 31st.! The Lord
just continues to bless us in so amazing ways and we are forever
grateful.
We
thank you in advance for your continued prayers, support and
encouragement. Please be reminded that we are a 501© 3 non
profit ministry and your donations are tax deductible.
May the Lord bless each one of you with the desires He has
placed in your hearts.
2007 Recap
February 24,
Jerry shared at the men's breakfast at Vader
Assembly of God and was very well received and has been invited
back to share for a church service .
March 23-25
Jerry and Leslie went to Pacific Life Bible
College in Surrey BC for a worship seminar and fund raising
dinner/auction. Saturday afternoon Jerry did a short teaching on
culturally relevant worship and indigenous instruments. He then
led the group in a drum circle that turned into a worship circle
using drums and percussion instruments. There was a blind woman
attending and as she entered in we could see the spirit of joy
come upon her and with that joy the anointing of the Holy Spirit
came though her worship. There was healing, tears, young people
stretched and willing to step forward in new revelation of God
through that worship time. That evening we gathered
some musicians from our extended family church Harvest Community
in Chilliwack. We shared First Nations Style worship music for
those attending the dinner auction. We were well received by
those in attendance, many who had never heard our style of
worship before. The gourmet dinner served that night was
outstanding. Thank you, Melanie Gleason Lyle for the invitation.
Sunday morning we gathered at Harvest Church in Chilliwack where
Jerry joined with the worship team. Gods presence was moving
throughout the service. We are always blessed when we have a
chance to worship with our church family in Chilliwack. After
church we meet briefly with Pastor Keith and Jerry's sister in
regard to future kingdom work in the area. We believe God wants
to move in greater power in the region. Pray that we hear from
the Lord what our part might be and for more fruit bearing
workers in the Frasier River Valley.
April 7,
Jerry, Leslie, Mike & Rene Greely, Connie Wallace and Bill Ivey
went to Portland for a Messianic / Native day of teaching, food,
fellowship, worship, dance and intersession. Our guitar player
called the night before letting us know he would be unable to
attend because of a family emergency. We called a man that we
knew was coming and asked if he would like to join in worship
with us and he graciously agreed. Coming into worship now
unrehearsed was a bit stressful but we put our trust in the Lord
and laid the time at his feet and He took the worship service
from the moment we started. It was an amazing, "God time". The
Lord by His Holy Spirit used us in as a corporate group to
minister to everyone in attendance that day.
April 21,
Jerry brought a worship team over to Rainier Oregon for their
first ever Gathering. Isabelle Weedman, and Robert
Archyleta along with Rodger and Jean Martin did the preliminary
ground work meeting with local pastors finding a facility and
contacting people to come. We had a wonderful turnout of over
100 people. There were many pre-believers in the crowd and all
seemed to enjoy their time in the presence of the Lord. One
comment came that :"My brother would never step foot in a church
but really enjoyed himself". The gathering format just reaches
out in a way that is more appealing to the un-churched as well
as the churched. Both Robert and Isabelle shared from the word,
we had a potluck meal with delicious food, there was worship and
corporate prayer with no one hesitating to participate. We want
to thank Paul & Janice Rice for opening up their church. We look
forward to the next time we join together in Rainier.
April 27,
Jerry went to Tacoma and Seattle with some drum deliveries and
stayed on in Seattle for a meeting with
Open Heart Ministries Bethseda
that evening. Before the meeting Jerry had the opportunity to
meet with the guest speaker from
Fresh Fire
ministries as well as
Mary Oliver
of Open Heart. They had an amazing encounter with the Lord
with each of them speaking prophetically into one another's
lives. Needless to say the meeting that evening was charged with
the power of the Holy Spirit with no one leaving untouched.
Saturday May 5th
we headed to Olympia for a meeting with some pastors from The
Nazarene Church in North Seattle.
These people have connections with Native people and are
searching for ways to effectively minister to them. We scheduled
a time for Jerry to come and share at a Sunday morning service.
After Olympia we headed to
Raymond Washington
and met with a pastor and his wife with the same heart. We ended
up staying over and attending their street church the next
morning. We set a date in June for a gathering at their church
and then in August to come back and do a two day outdoor out
reach. We returned home on Sunday in time for Jerry to be a part
of the worship team for a City Wide service that evening. There
was agood turn out and as always there were several in
attendance who had their first experience with "Native Style"
worship. Jerry was very well received.
May 11-13
we took a last minute trip to Bend to meet up with musician
Jo Vogels and his wife Victoria at the "Barn".
The meeting times were powerfully anointed and both Jo and Jerry
feel strong about working together in the future. We are very
encouraged by the ministry that
Dale and Joellen Michaels
facilitate there in Bend. Sunday night we came home in time to
lead worship at Evangel and then finished the night with
Mother's Day take out and snuggling with our precious 2 year old
granddaughter.
Tuesday the 15th and Wednesday the 16th
we traveled to Cannon Beach Oregon to attend a couple of days of
our communities
19th Annual Pastors and Ministry Leader's Prayer Summit.
There were over 40 leaders in attendance in all or part of the
summit. It was such an uplifting experience for both of us. We
are so blessed and encouraged to be part of a community of
leaders who are so united in prayer and have such genuine care
and concern for one another. The bond continues to grow deeper.
Saturday the 19th
Jerry once again emceed the
"In Honor of Our Children" Pow Wow hosted by Kelso School's
Indian Education.
We had an excellent turn out with more vendors, dancers and
attendees than we have had in the last couple of years.
Thank you to the Wiconi volunteers who drove up
to help out.
Ketchikan AK, May 24 - 28, 2007
The Chapman’s and the Greely’s ended the month of
May in Ketchikan Alaska. Arriving on Thursday the 24th
we started with a meeting with the core group of the
“Gathering”… We had a time of food fellowship and protocol.
Then we got together to practice with the musicians that would
be playing with us throughout the weekend. Dale and Lucy
Wheeler flew up to join us on Friday. Friday night we gathered
at the
Saxman Tribal House
for a community concert. The event was well
attended. The acoustics were perfect there in the long house.
The place was made for drumming. We had worshipers and
pre-believers joining in unity in native style song and dance.
We left that evening with a sense, of awe as we reflected on
how the Holy Spirit ministered in the hearts of the people in an
ever so gentle way.
On Saturday we attended the
Gathering’s three year anniversary
Potluck. There were lots of people, food, fellowship and music.
They have all age groups represented. It was so encouraging to
hear the testimonies of some of the “younger” elders who took
the time to recognize their elders who were in attendance, and
hear how these precious ones prayed for and ministered them into
the kingdom many years ago.. E Now we see these people doing the
same and soon to pass that mantel on to the next generation. The
core group had made enough drum sticks for everyone in
attendance, so the evening finished off with all having a chance
to drum and then being able to have the sticks to take home.
Before we finished as always there was a time of prayer and
personal ministry.
Sunday we had the pleasure to join
Good News Fellowship
for service. As it was the Global Day of Prayer we spent the
beginning of the service joining in, with believers all around
the world in a time of corporate worship, prayer and repentance.
Jerry shared a timely word for the body of Good News Fellowship
encouraging the adults in their support of the children and
youth in the call the Lord has place upon them. That evening we
did a service at the
Salvation Army Church.
There were people from several different congregations as well a
number of people who heard the music and simply stopped in to
see what was taking place. People were free in song and dance.
We left knowing the Holy Spirit had done what He intended to
accomplish. After service we went to Norma and Sonya Skans where
they prepared a wonderful feast for a least 50 people. They
honored us with gifts, generous words and prayers. Norm and
Sonya are such a gift to the body of Christ as well as to their
community.
We just want to say thank you to all of you in
Ketchikan for your part in bringing us up to be a part of your
ministry. Also for your prayers in sending us out.
Joe & Susie Williams, Norm & Sonya Skans,
George & Marty at Good News Fellowship, Ken Rainak, John Long,
Leonard & Debbie Nance, Dale Bakkala and all those involved in
the Ketchikan Gathering. We are blessed by your generosity and
hospitality.
June 15 & 16, Raymond WA,
Friday night we started the weekend with worship
and intercession sharing the music portion with the Liberation
Church worship team. It was a sweet yet powerful time in the
Lord. Saturday Raymond had their first Potluck Gathering
Meeting at the high school. We had the opportunity to protocol
the police chief, fire chief, city council as well as tribal
representatives from the Shoalwater Tribe. There were over 100
people in attendance throughout the day. We sensed the Lord
working in the hearts of many during our time of fellowship,
enjoying good food and worship.
June
24 Kelso WA:
Sunday morning we took a worship team to
Abundant Life Nazarene
church. Jerry also spent a brief time sharing about what we do
as ministers representing First Nations. There were actually
some people who were familiar with Broken Walls ! Pastor Chris
Davis is very supportive and an encouragement to Jerry and I .
We look forward to a continued relationship with the people
there.
June
30 Seattle WA: Jerry and Leslie traveled to West Seattle Church
of the Nazarene
where Jerry taught on ministry with cultural relevance. We have
been in communication with the pastors from West Seattle and
believe this is a God connection. They have a very
culturally diverse congregation and are more than ready to make
a difference in their community.
June 29,30, July7,20, & 21,
Jerry and several volunteers from the
Vision City
servant week spent many hours refurbishing a
very old and tired gym at the Cowlitz Tribe's St. Mary's Center
in Toledo WA,. It was a big undertaking but the result was well
worth the effort. Thanks to all who helped out.
July 27-28,
Our worship team was invited back to the
Back to the Blues Gospel
Blue Festival in Chilliwack BC.
Even though we don't play the blues the "Native Style" worship
was overwhelmingly received. Jerry and I made several
connections with people in the area involved in native ministry.
Another answer to prayer. Sunday AM we lead worship at
Harvest Church in Chilliwack
and as always the people there were prayed up and ready to
receive from the Lord and that's just how the morning went. The
Holy Spirit moved in power that morning, in blessing and
refreshing. A big thank you to our team:
Mike & Rene Greely, Chuck & Jacque Hendrickson, Connie Wallace,
Josh Anderson and Jay McKenzie.
We are very excited about the addition of some new musicians
Chuck & wife Jacque and also Josh. What a blessing these guys
are!
August 2-5
We headed to Turner Oregon for the
Wiconi Family Camp and Pow Wow,
Jerry facilitated the worship time attempting to get as many
different people involved in leading as he could. The worship
times carried a diverse flavor and encouraged us
to appreciate the way God uses us in so many variations of
expressing our worship to Him. We also had our turn at running
the sound which is not something either of us are particularly
gifted in, but we are learning. It was good to see old friends
and have some time to visit in a more relaxed atmosphere.
August 11,
took us to
Tom Fest in Washougal WA,
Why? The directors of the event realize that their property is
on the land the first peoples and believe that protocol dictates
that there be some representation of First Nations People. We
were given great respect and favor by these people and believe
they will reap a blessing out of their obedience.
August 18 & 19
we returned to
Raymond
for a two day event. We had the opportunity to meet and protocol
the
Chinook Tribe
at the opening of the Saturday meeting. Thank you Lord for still
yet another connection!. The afternoon session got rained out so
we packed up in a hurry and headed to the high school. After
setting up Jerry had our younger half of the team lead, Chuck,
Josh & Jay with Mike filling in on bass. Chuck did an amazing
job of leading us into the Throne Room. Josh's guitar seemed to
just sing in the spirit. Following worship we had a powerful
time of prayer for those in attendance. Sunday morning we got up
and headed back to the school where our whole team brought the
worship and once again the Lord amazed us with an intense time
of worship and intercession. That afternoon everyone was treated
to terrific salmon barbeque.
Thank you to Tony and Lisa and Liberation Church
for all your hard work.
Thank you to Patty
who opens her door to us and treats us to her
wonderful food, comfortable beds, generous
hospitality and then send us home with gifts. A
friend for life! Also
a big thank you to our team who travel at their own expense to
be a part of this ministry. Mike & Rene Greely Connie & Jim
Wallace, Chuck Hendrickson, Josh Anderson and Jay McKenzie
August 25 & 26th Was the Kalama Days of
Discovery,
This event takes place in recognition of the
town's name sake Kalama a Hawaiian who landed on the Columbia
River and married a local native woman. The family has held on
to their traditions for generations and in honor of them the
festival has been born. This was something that interested Jerry
as he also is 1/4 Hawaiian. Jerry did some drum songs, two
sisters from the Cowlitz Tribe, Patty and Jane came to sing and
dance. We invited a traditional pow wow drum family, Cree Star,
and there were a handful of First Nations dancers. Our
son-in-law Carlo and daughter Breanne joined Jerry in a worship
set on Sat. afternoon. We felt that there was a good
representation of first nations, not to mention all of the
Hawaiians. They counted 64 vendors, us being one of them, 700
guests for the Luau dinner, and 5000 visitors throughout the
weekend. Sunday morning Jerry had church service with about 25
people in attendance. The thing I think that impacted us the
most was all the testimonies honoring and glorifying Christ,
recognizing the fact that this was not a Christian event. Thank
you to Bill & Gloria and the countless volunteers that made this
event possible. We look forward with anticipation to next year.
The Barn Project:
Dale & Sue Bakkela
of Ketchikan received vision for our Barn Workshop Project and
have been encouraging their personal friends and ministry
contacts to give toward that. We had checks come in from
Ketchikan, California and Texas. Not mention our local ministry
partners. With
Gene McCleary
taking over the project we now have the roof
sealed, half of a new foundation, 2/3 of the new floor, lights
and electrical outlets to run equipment. There’s a lot more to
be done but this start is really encouraging
tion. The core group had made enough drum sticks
for everyone in attendance, so the evening finished off with all
having a chance to drum and then being able to have the sticks
to take home. Before we finished as always there was a time of
prayer and personal ministry.
October 13,
Cowlitz Tribe Pow Wow
Jerry was asked to return this year as the emcee for the annual
event. This was the tribes biggest and best yet. The remodel
project done by the Kelso/Longview City church volunteers made
all the difference in the gym. It is was
wonderful. The Tribe took time to honor Jerry and
the volunteers including doing an honor dance and having gifts
of wonderful embroidered fleece vest for all the volunteers. The
Cowlitz people are reconnecting with their culture and did a
wonderful job of sharing with the community.
http://www.cowlitz.org/events/cowlitzindianpowwow.html
October 20,
We shared in drum songs and the word at the Tacoma Wisdom
Circle. This is an additional meeting time to the monthly Tacoma
Gathering. This fellowship has a bit more of an intimate and
personal setting. There is already First Nations people
testifying of the blessing these meeting have been to them.
November 1,
Jerry joined
Richard Twiss
for a Worship Seminar at
Seattle Pacific University.
It was a time to introduce culturally relevant expression in
worship and prayer and to share with attendees the powerful
impact it can have.
Josh Anderson and Chuck Hendrickson
join Jerry and Leslie for the worship portion
and did a great job as always with their musical gifts.
November 15-20,
Jerry and Leslie headed down to Puma Valley CA to bring an Abba
drum to the
Puma Valley Foursquare Fellowship.
The people of the congregation and
Pastor Derek Myers
have been swamped with fire relief ministry. Providing some of
the practical needs of meals, groceries, clothing, hands on help
as well as spiritual council and just “being there” for those
who have been through such a traumatic event. We had
great service and enjoyed meeting and worshiping with the
people of Puma Valley.
